Chapter 3: On the Mark
May 12 - May 10
On the Mark marks an important milestone for The Gallery as it celebrates its third year. Over this time, what began as a small creative vision has grown into a dynamic space for artistic dialogue and community engagement.
This exhibition reflects on that journey—on growth, intention, and the enduring human impulse to leave a mark. Presented from 12 March to 10 May, the exhibition coincides with the Steyn City LIV Golf Tournament, drawing a thoughtful parallel between the discipline of sport and the mastery of artistic practice. Much like the precision required to execute a perfect swing, the works gathered in On the Mark reflect years of dedication, technical refinement, and the quiet persistence that underpins creative excellence.
The exhibition brings together a selection of significant works that embody this commitment to craft. Across painting, sculpture, and mixed media, the artists represented here demonstrate how skill, intuition, and sustained practice converge to produce works that resonate far beyond their material form.
Extending beyond the gallery walls, On the Mark unfolds into the surrounding landscape through a curated Sculpture Garden. Set within the natural environment of Steyn City, these monumental works invite viewers to encounter sculpture in dialogue with space, light, and movement. The outdoor presentation creates an accessible point of engagement where art can be experienced more freely and informally.
At its core, On the Mark considers the shared language between artistic and athletic pursuit: discipline, precision, and the lifelong refinement of one’s craft.
The exhibition reflects on the beauty of this pursuit and the many ways in which individuals—artists and athletes alike—strive to shape something lasting.
