Cast in Time: A Sculpture Exhibition
July 17 - Aug 30
Cast in Time brings together a selection of sculptural works that foreground the enduring relationship between material, form, and memory. Through bronze, stone, and other tactile media, the exhibition reflects on the ways in which artists shape raw material into objects that carry both physical weight and emotional resonance.
Sculpture occupies a unique position within artistic practice through its tangible presence in space. Unlike two-dimensional works, these forms invite a heightened awareness of scale, surface, and gravity. Rough-hewn stone, polished bronze, and textured surfaces reveal the artist’s hand and the technical processes required to transform earthbound materials into enduring forms.
Throughout the exhibition, questions of weight, balance, and permanence emerge as central themes. Many of the works appear to challenge gravity—masses poised delicately in tension—while others embrace the solidity and grounded presence of their material origins. As viewers move through the space, the shifting relationship between body, object, and environment becomes an integral part of the experience.
By foregrounding the physicality of sculpture, Cast in Time reflects on the ways in which material objects hold traces of time, labour, and memory. Each work becomes both a record of its making and an invitation to consider the dialogue between artist and medium.
