Guy Ferrer

(b. 1955 Algeria)

Born in Algeria, Guy Ferrer is a French artist of Catalan and Italian descent. Over the past three decades, Ferrer has developed an international reputation as a painter and sculptor, with exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world. Recent honours include a monumental bronze for the French embassy in Singapore, a large fresco painted for the French embassy in Bakou, Azerbaijan and a triptych titled Liberté-Egalité-Fraternité commissioned by the OECD and for its headquarters in Paris.

Artistic partnerships have been developed with several companies, including Lefranc & Bourgeois, Champagne Jacquart, Château Haut-Canteloup, several books cover illustrations (ed. Francophones, Mobydick and J.E. Flower), Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte and Le Bon Marché in Paris, including the permanent installation of a monumental bronze and a large canvas at the main entrance of the building.

T.O.L.E.R.A.N.C.E – a major sculptural work Ferrer created in 2007 in response to contemporary religious tensions – has been widely acclaimed and displayed in France, Germany, the United States, Poland, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa. With these nine monumental bronze sculptures, Guy Ferrer offers his reconciliatory vision, a message of hope, mutual respect and tolerance. Ferrer's powerful sculptures remind us that tolerance requires us to take time to reflect and cultivate an openness to others.

Three of the eight editions of T.O.L.E.R.A.N.C.E.  are permanently installed at the François Mitterrand Park linking Paris 17th with Saint-Ouen, France; the Government Palace in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and the district of Port Marianne behind Montpellier City Hall, France.

T.O.L.E.R.A.N.C.E received wide acclaim through its exhibitions in La Monnaie de Paris (2008), the Jardins du Luxembourg, French Senate (2008). It has also been installed at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany (2009), the city of Poznan, Poland (2009), the Palais des Rois de Majorque (2011) and the Campo Santo in Perpignan, France (2014). It was presented during the Festival Art & Tolerance in Vence, France 14-Nov – 8 December 2018.
